Halfpipe World map

BetaIn the game, not released yet.

About

  1. The whole World is one painted continent: your home park in the middle, the towns in a loop around it, and each region's landscape blending into the next. Autumn woods and farms to the west, old brick towns and a hilltop castle to the north, snowy peaks and fjords to the east, desert and palm coast to the south.
  2. An interactive copy of the map is on the wiki: Halfpipe World map.
  3. Open it: World > Map, the HQ Map button, or Ctrl+Shift+U (change it in Settings > Controls). It opens on the region you're in.
  4. Zoom and pan: click a region to zoom to its towns, mouse wheel or + / - to zoom, double-click to zoom in, drag to pan, 0 or Whole world to zoom back out. Home and Here jump to your home park or to where you are.
  5. Keyboard and gamepad: arrow keys (or WASD) step between towns, Enter opens a town and then rides there, / jumps to search. On a gamepad: stick or d-pad steps, A opens and goes, B backs out, LB / RB zoom, Y searches.
  6. Search: type a town or a townsperson's name and the map flies there.
  7. Towns: each pin shows the town's type (harbour, mountain, fort, farm, woodland, desert). Towns you haven't visited show a ? under a soft haze; visited towns get a stamp, and the corner counts how many you've seen (hover it for each region). Your current town pulses. Regions you don't own show a lock. All World regions are free.
  8. Filters: event flags (an event is on now), quest marks (a request you've taken is waiting there), shops, fishing, card packs and the usual weather. Hover a town for a quick summary.
  9. Ride there: plans the shortest way round the loop, draws it as a dotted line and says how many routes and roughly how long. A pill at the top of the screen names the next stop, and a note pops up as you arrive at each one. The pill has Bus ahead (skip the rest by bus or train) and × to clear the route.
  10. Fast travel: takes the train when one goes there, otherwise the bus. The bus costs 5 bucks and the train 10, and the card warns you when you can't afford it. It only goes where the bus or train already reaches: a route you've ridden or a town you've visited.
  11. Friends: in a friend's world the map is view only.
  12. The wiki map can link straight to a town (copy the link from a town's card), shows each town's usual weather, lists every town by region, and prints.
