Who she is

1. Anica is a Mosswood kid. She wants to notice the tiny things everyone else walks past.
2. Watching can stand in for joining in. She can convince herself that explaining a thing would ruin it.
3. She stops for flowers in cracks, bent nails, strange clouds, and other things that seem like they should not be there.

1. Early. She points out something tiny in the plaza and leaves it unexplained.

1. Rita pays the same kind of close attention. Myrie understands watching before joining, for different reasons. Shiiro likes that she sees wear and tiny flaws before anyone else does.

Where she stands

1. In the plaza in spring, summer, and autumn, when it is clear, fog, fireflies, or drizzle, and it is day or night. On the Long Street she walks in the distance.
