Soraya

Who she is

1. Soraya is a Chilimanjaro kid. She wants people to always have something hopeful ahead of them.
2. She rushes past disappointment, because she feels she has to find the bright side right away.
3. She keeps cancelled flyers. She likes imagining the events they could have been.
4. She scrapbooks and memory-keeps — it is the same habit extended into a whole archive of things that almost happened.

Friendship

1. Early. When a plan falls apart, she suggests a bigger one immediately.

People she knows

1. Niva loves how Soraya makes a big idea feel contagious. Sage likes the enthusiasm, and notices when Soraya will not say she dislikes something. Gary can frustrate her by reporting bad news with no bright ending attached.

Where she stands

1. In the plaza in spring, summer, and autumn, when it is clear, fireflies, drizzle, or wind, and it is day or night. At the Drive-In she stands off to the side.
